1.  Morris Moses Foundation - is a registered, not- for- profit citizen health lobby that advocates for compassionate, quality, affordable healthcare and the empowerment of patients.

2. What programs does MMF run?

  • Empowerment of patients to know their rights and responsibilities.
  • Medicine as vocation-Sensitizing students to go into medicine for the right reasons.
  • Adopt patient-Rally citizens to support the needy patients in the way of helping them obtain an NHIF card to enable them get inpatient treatment in public hospitals.
  • Silent No More campaigns-Open forum where Kenyans share their experiences in hospitals with a view of getting them involved in transformation of the health sector.

3. Why is delivery of quality services so important to MMF?

Health is a basic need and a right for all citizens regardless of their social economic status and the same should be delivered in a caring and humane way.

4. Why should I as a citizen be interested in my treatment?

As a patient, you have carried your body all your life and hence you have better knowledge of the same. A doctor brings in 50% because of training and education while you as the patient bring 50% due to the knowledge you have of your own body. Therefore the relationship between you and the doctor should be one of mutual trust. Be a 4E’S patients:

  • Equipped
  • Enabled
  • Empowered
  • Engaged

 

5. Does MMF pay your medical bills?

MMF is purely an advocate for patient empowerment and quality delivery of services in all hospitals. We encourage citizens to take out an insurance cover to help in the event one falls ill and have to be admitted into a hospital. You can shop around for a company that gives you a good package and also quality services.

For those seeking treatment in public hospitals a NHIF card comes in handy as it caters for your admission as well as your treatment. It also comes as a family package.

6. How do I share my hospital experience?
